End the Epidemics

ACTION’s advocacy around TB—the issue that brought the partnership together over a decade ago—includes drug-resistant forms of TB and TB-HIV co-infection. We also work to align with global advocacy on other diseases of poverty, such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, and emerging diseases. ACTION supports numerous global campaigns, including: the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; the Global Plan to End TB; the antimicrobial resistance agenda; and Universal Health Coverage.

Our advocacy is three-fold:

  • Resources: We are working to ensure enough funding for prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment—as well as funding for R&D to develop new tools—to end tuberculosis (TB) and other infectious diseases threats.
  • Policies: We are asking governments to adopt ambitious evidence-based TB polices and recommended TB-HIV program integration strategies, ensuring TB is central to the antimicrobial resistance agenda, and reducing policy barriers to TB R&D.
  • Accountability: We call attention to progress or failures in reducing the impact of diseases of poverty as the ultimate measure of accountability for government spending, policy, and implementation.
